2 Cambodian Incursion
истЭпизод войны во Вьетнаме [ Vietnam War]. Тридцатого апреля 1970 Р. Никсон [ Nixon, Richard Milhous] объявил, что войска США и Южного Вьетнама численностью 70 тыс. человек начали атаку на "логова" [sanctuaries] северных вьетнамцев в Камбодже. Он заявил, что эти действия не являются вторжением ["not an invasion"], поскольку они проводятся в районах, занятых Северным Вьетнамом. Такое расширение военных действий после заявлений о том, что война скоро закончится, вызвало массовые демонстрации протеста в США, одним из результатов которых стала трагедия в Университете Кент-Стейт [ Kent State University]. 30 июня, в день объявленного возвращения войск, в Сенате [ Senate, U.S.] было принято постановление, запрещающее финансовую поддержку каких-либо военных операций в Камбодже без предварительного согласования с Конгрессом [ Congress, U.S.]English-Russian dictionary of regional studies > Cambodian Incursion
